WEx
- A representative will visit the emplo yer (business) to complete a comprehensive data report about the business, including health and safety- child protection protocols.
- If the employer meets our requirements/ standards, then they will successfully be added to our database.
- The database will then be presented to a qualifying school together with the introduction letter to parents.
- An allocated careers mentor who will support individual students with applications and assessments throughout the experience is sent to participating schools.

- Visit employees (students) and carry out assessments-support against specified skills criteria.
- Provide a report and certificate to the students.

As employers, you can help students develop different qualities and influence their future career choices by providing them with first-hand work experience.
The School
The school will organise two career sessions to be run by a representative from WEX. In these sessions, students will be taught about job applications, CVs, interviews, and general career guidance including job categories.
- Letters will be se nt home- to parents/guardians for students to pay a fee to take part in the work experience opportunity.
- Once the fee is paid, each student will be all ocated a WEX me ntor, school coordinator and later (after securing work placement) a work place supervisor.
- Students provided with application from which to make 3 choices (in order of preference) of their interested job.
- Jobs will be allocated on a first come-first served basis and where a student fails to get their preferred 1st choice, they will be slotted into their second choice pool and lastly into the third choice pool where the second choice is unavailable.
- Some jobs might require a CV or interview.
- School mentor will visit the allocated student once and make a guided asse ssment and support the student where necessary.
Employers
Employers support students’ career development by providing a safe work environment, selecting suitable placement periods, assigning a supervisor, and offering guidance throughout the placement. They also monitor progress and complete a brief end-of-placement report. The following are necessary from Employers:
- Required to ensure that working areas are safe for individuals.
- Suggest how many individuals your organisation can sign-on.
- Choose most suitable period of the y ear: April-May, July-September, November-January.
- Assign a designated supervisor.
- Support and orient individuals.
- Monitor and complete a brief report on individual.
